From The Early Ultima Online Years...

New Guild Master of Guardian's Chosen

Posted Thursday, May 24, 2001 by Dregon

And yet another Guild Master of GC has fallen into the trap of thinking that real life is somehow more important than living online 24/7. First me, then Bill, and now Katrina. Yes, Kat seems to think that working 70+ hours of week is somehow the "in" thing to do. Sad to see peer pressure get to her like that. So while we're dismayed that Kat can no longer devote her time to leading GC on Siege, we're also excited to announce that Dartanion will be the new Guild Master of the Chosen. His primary mission will be babysitting Lothar and keeping him out of trouble for the next howevermany months until Shadowbane is released. Assisting him in this daunting task (those of us who know Lothar will understand what I'm saying) will be "BattleMaster" Talon and "WarLord" Willow, who have both volunteered to serve as Assistant GMs of GC. Dart has taken a blood oath to swear off women, work and alcohol for as long as he is needed, and we'll hold him to it.

The Cabal Chronicle

Posted Wednesday, May 23, 2001 by Dregon

Belgarion of GC has started an online newspaper for the guild. He'll be interviewing players and reporting on guild activities on Siege and whatever future MMPORGs we go to. The link for it is on the left menu. In other news, Zambartas of TC has resurfaced online and has entered the world of Siege to be with his guild brothers. Also, SB has recently started the 2nd phase of their beta, and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, is dead. *sniffles*

More Shadowbane Information Released

For those of you who like to keep up to date on SB, Wolfpack has been releasing some new information this week. Three new guilds, plus FAQ on how Guilds work, Building Cities, and Siege Warfare.

Shadowbane Vault - Guildmaster Top 25 List

Posted Friday, May 4, 2001 by Dregon

For the second time, The Cabal placed in the top 10, this time at #6. This was poll of online guildmasters, from AC, EQ and UO, so we're quite impressed that we hit #6. Read about it at SB Vault.

Retiring a Couple of Old Cabal Members

Posted Thursday, May 3, 2001 by Dregon

We've added some good folk to the ranks of TC recently, but unfortunately time has come to wave goodbye to a pair of players that have slipped away from us. Holgual Oxford and Zambartas were TC from waaaay back before we even started Guardian's Chosen. They really never came with us to Siege Perilous when we made that transition and have been out of touch for several months. Holgual was the epitome of an evil man with a conscious, who would war against our corrupt enemies but never PK, and was one of the main reasons TC kept getting accused of role-playing (complete rumors, I assure you). Zambartas was the ultimate house thief, stealthing into homes or ambushing unsuspecting victims at their own door. He'd walk every pixel of UO with a ring of all the keys he stole until he found the right house, and he'd rob em blind.

Of course, both of these capable, respectable players have an open invitation into The Cabal should they return to the realm of online roleplaying. The older TC members certainly have good memories of our exploits with these two, and we look forward to continuing our adventure anew in some yet unbeta'd, buggy, unbalanced, but still addictive online environment.

Wha? Other Worlds Than UO? WTF?

Posted Monday, April 23, 2001 by Dregon

Uth and Viper were telling me about something called Tribes or Tribes 2 or whatever. They refered to it as "cool" and said that several GC members were playing it and that other members should check it out. And Shadowbane completed its 1st beta phase on April 13th while a Dark Ages of Camelot beta will start soon and Anarchy Online is now in beta.

My only question to Viper was which shard of UO this Tribes and Shadowbane stuff was going to be on and how it affected my current mage and fighter templates, but he would only keep calling me 'idiot' everytime I asked, so I says to him, "We've known each other 3 years, why do you still keep calling me that?", and he wouldn't talk to me no more. So could someone tell me if Tribes 2 and these other worlds or whatever are on Siege or LS and do I need the UO 3d client to play them? k, thanks

264,000 more players and UO is ours!

Yes, another member of the Chosen has been voted into TC. Punisher has been a constant frontline fighter in our battles on SP against the hordes of unbelievers, having begun his time in UO on LS as a member of the Legion. All the members of the Cabal are proud to have yet another quality player seated at our table.

Welcoming New and Old Cabal Members, Yet Again

Posted Wednesday, April 18, 2001 by Dregon

Milabar has joined The Cabal after a long period of service to Big G. Another member of the loyal Chosen from our days on LS, Mil has lead us on the siege battlefields some nights while devoting himself to supplying the guild on others. As far as we're concerned, he's been a TC member for quite some time and we're proud to finally call him so.

Also, one or our oldest members has rejoined us on SP. Like DART, Draxelion was an old member of KOL and the DLS and helped us start TC when we were nobodies. Now that we are nobodies once again, its only fitting that Draxelion rejoin our ranks, :) Oh, and go go Nero!

Two More New Cabal Members

Posted Sunday, April 8, 2001 by Dregon

In a continued effort to erase the fact that we ever added Lothar to our guild, The Cabal is proud to announce the addition of two new quality members. Dartanion has been GC for a loooong time, and was actually a member of KoL and the DLS (from whence all this TC nonsense originally started). Kinniver is another long time GC who lives to fight and has always served the Guardian well. Both are outstanding PvPrs, highly loyal to their friends and welcome additions to The Cabal. This effectively reduces the "Eww, we have Lothar in our guild?" factor to 4%. A great day for TC!

Welcoming New and Old Cabal Members

Recently, TC added a new member to its ranks. Willow has served the Guardian for many months and has demonstrated exceptional maturity, skill and, well, he just never got tired of UO. He also charges out of his house 1 on 5, and tries to pick off people out of a group of 20. More power to ya. So, we're happy to announce Willow's entrance into The Cabal.

Also, an old Cabal member has returned to UO after a long absence. Faramir is back with us and currently enthralled in the joys of para blows, mob violence and a useless 4th level spell. So, with the obvious exception of Lothar, I'm very happy to see so many TC members active on UO again (what, are there no other MMORPGs out there?)

Now if I could just get Avenger to stay online more than a week...

Minor Site Changes

Posted Saturday, February 24, 2001 by Dregon

Made a few small changes to the site. For those non-Windows capable people who don't know what a right mouse button can do, I've made the left links go straight to their own new browser window.

I won't add a scroll bar to the left side menu, though. It's just damn ugly. I have taken out some of the less important links to shorten it up some for the 800x600 peops. If you have a small monitor or set your resolution to 640x480, all I can say is . . . things'll go your way someday. Keep your chin up.

And the Test link up top is the newer message boards. I'm going to play with them for a while to see how user-friendly we can make them before I switch them to the main boards. If you'd like to inform me exactly what you don't like about the newer boards, please post it there. Thank you.

GUARDS!!! *bam*

Shadowbane

Posted Friday, September 29, 2000 by Dregon

Yes indeed, Shadowbane is a project that TC/GC will definately support. Sure, its still a LONG ways off and there's no absolute guarantee that it isn't just vaporware, but of all the MMORPGs coming out, SB looks like the most fun. By far.

For those few of you who did get into the SB beta, which should happen around November, please try to keep in touch with Katrina, Punisher, that one other guy, and myself so that we can coordinate our efforts in the beta. We truly want to help test-play as many of the classes, races, disciplines, guild types, etc., as we possibly can - mostly for our own fun and personal gain, i.e. knowledge, but also because we truly want Shadowbane to be as good as its concept makes it out to be. PvP based, guild-centric, dark, hostile, player-held territories, feature NPCs influencing events, a world in chaos . . . sounds like a whole lot of fun to me.

So read about it, at www.shadowbane.com, and see if it interests you. They've been adding much more information on player classes and disciplines as of late, and there will be much more listed there in the near future. If you played with TC/GC in the past three years and I don't have you on my current ICQ list, drop me a message (2673918) and tell me if you're interested in Shadowbane or not. We'd love to see all of our old friends back with us in SB.

Until then, I hope everyone keeps in touch and doesn't get too burned out. And always remember, the world doesn't truly revolve around MMORPGs, or work, or who's the best at this or that, or money, or any of the other petty things that consume the lives of so many people. Know that in its essence, the world revolves around me. So think about me, and things you can do for me, and how you make my life better. And from that, happiness will follow. Yes, be there in Shadowbane, but be there . . for me.

Times They Are A Changin'

Posted Wednesday, December 15, 1999 by Dregon

Where's the Cabal these days? It should be obvious we're all on the Siege Perilous shard, anxiously sowing the seeds of a new empire built in Guardian's name. In fact, the entirety of Guardian's Chosen has made the move to a new land of conquest: TSO, FJP, and many other member guilds. Together with our allies, OGD and AOD, we are slowly making our presence felt on SP.

Any questions about GC's activities on the hard shard should be directly to Bill Gates, Darktower, Blue Knight or Perlaze. If you don't have their ICQ #'s, you can ICQ me, Dregon, and I'll be glad to forward your messages to them, :)
